BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I've voiced a number of radio networks and commercials. My on air background is mostly in L.A., D.C. and syndication.
1) Do you specialize in a particular kind of voice work?
Most of the projects have been in radio imaging, commercials and non broadcast.
2) How did you get your start? What was the first voiceover job that you landed?
Cascadia Films was my first VO job. They did very technical work and even though some might find it tedious, I loved it.
3) Did you have a regional dialect that you had to get rid of? How did you do that?
Canada can occasionally be detected on certain words. But I'm working it oot.
4) How active are you with Social Media?
Moderately.
5) What's the most unusual request you've ever received?
My first VO for a network, I was "The Whisper Girl." There was a big, booming male voice saying the name of the network and then I came in with the underlying whisper. When I visited the network, I was introduced as "The Whisper Girl." I'm not sure they actually knew my name.
6) What exercises/elixirs/remedies would you recommend to keep your voice in shape?
I sing along to Keith Urban's song "Blue Ain't Your Color" a couple of times. It always puts my voice right where I want it. Then I watch the video...... because I'm only human ;)
7) Who are your mentors?
Marice Tobias...her seminars are an absolute inspiration and guiding light.
8) What other voice talents do you have the most respect for?
I am in awe of the extraordinary talents of Steve Downs, Stew Herrera, Roberta Solomon and Dave Fennoy.
9) What other types of voice work do you aspire to do?
I would love to do more narrations. There is nothing better than telling a good story. I would also like to delve into video game characters.
10) What's one thing that would surprise many people to learn about you?
I'm a romantic. At least it always surprises me.
Bonus Questions
What was your last non-industry job?
I helped coach and train troubled or abused horses. I also worked as a riding instructor. I had the opportunity to teach someone who had been in a wheelchair since he was a child. He said it was the closest thing to walking again that he'd experienced.
