Papa Roach was formed in 1993 in Vacaville, CA and were named after lead singer Jacoby Shaddix' step-grandfather, Howard William Roatch, who went by the nickname "Papa Roatch." The original lineup consisted of Shaddix, guitarist Jerry Horton, drummer Dave Buckner, bassist Will James, and trombonist Ben Luther. The current lineup still includes Shaddix and Horton, but now includes drummer Tony Palermo and bassist Tobin Esperance.
They had their biggest break in 2001 with the release of their sophomore album "Infest," which reached triple platinum with the single “Last Resort.” The band decided to move toward a less rap-style with the albums "lovehatetragedy" (2002) and "Getting Away with Murder" (2004). In 2010, Papa Roach parted ways with Interscope and signed a deal with the independent Eleven Seven label. In 2012, the band released their seventh studio album, "The Connection," followed by 2015’s "F.E.A.R." (Face Everything & Rise).
By the time of the release of their ninth studio album, "Crooked Teeth," in 2017, the Grammy nominated group had sold over 20 million albums. Then, two singles, “Who Do You Trust?” and “Renegade Music,” were released in October 2018 before the studio LP "Who Do You Trust?," arrived in January 2019.
Now, the band has released their second collection of hit singles, “Greatest Hits Vol. 2 - The Better Noise Years”, which includes 12 of the band’s top 10 hits released between 2010 to 2019 as well as three previously unreleased remixes and two unreleased acoustic recordings.
