Hank Haney is at the top of his game. Hank leads his field as a top-notch coach. However, if he passed you in an airport or sat next to you in a restaurant, you still might not recognize him. Even with a golf club in his hand, you still might think, "who?"
Mr. Haney is the swing coach for Tiger Woods.
Yes, Tiger Woods has a coach ... a teacher who reviews tape of his swing dynamics, ball strike and follow-through (and a few things more).
Tiger also hits dozens of golf balls before AND after each round. Tiger gathers the guidance from his teacher, puts it into play and practices it time after time.
Radio has always been reluctant to employ coaches. Even more foreign, radio does not practice! It's difficult to understand why ... when the suggestion is floated to a colleague, the look resembles a head-cock like Nipper, the RCA dog.
Our sellers receive more coaching and more training than our air staffs. Yet, air talents still think that the way to improve is to go live to iron out the "burrs."
Try putting your new morning show in a studio and running through several practice rounds -- a "scrimmage" before going live. This exercise knocks the rust off and builds timing before you go "live."
Coaching and practice are vital to growth. Regardless of your role, seek a coach today for growth AND perspective.
