Great Moments In Googlization(tm pending)
If you were a client, I would have by now bludgeoned you over the head with the term "Googlize". Google is a moderately successful enterprise that doesn't take itself too seriously. They're ready to change the artwork for the simplest of premises.
So why does Radio have such a stick up it's butt(c) about tweaking the website?
Good example of OBL Googlizing at http://wpgc.radio.com and some Cinco de Google at www.y98.com and www.kson.com
Vegas With A Twist
"Somewhere" a station is getting ready to kick off a contest that melds two great promotions: a wedding and a flyaway to Las Vegas. They're going to get their couple and then give away spots to be guests at the ceremony. They'll be taking a plane load of winners and the couple to Vegas for the wedding and a couple of nights of partying.
Radio Gaga
Congrats to K-Hits in Tulsa where they totally demolished the competition at the show a couple of weeks back..
I heard a station last Fall with Gaga where, day-of-show, they didn't mention it or refer to it for three hours. Genius. We're in an industry of Mensa candidates.
K-Hits became Radio Gaga for the day. They didn't change formats or do anything that would freak out the sliderule crowd. They changed the logo. Tweaked the imaging. Spiked in a few of her songs. Talked about it on the air. They'd held on to ten pairs of tickets after it sold out. Competition had one pair. And on-site it was a bloodbath.
Bannering started at 10 am. They had highway message boards. They'd had two sets of backstage passes. They had a fake backstage broadcast. The competition packed up at 6. K-Hits repositioned and greeted everyone as they left with fliers that touted a stealth song this morning that was worth $106.
If someone of her magnitude comes to town and you don't make every attempt to own it, that's pretty sad...
