Dancing With The DJ's
Possibly one of the biggest car giveaways in recent history was "Dancing With Cars" as done by Hot in Ottawa. This is your typical Canadian radio promotion that would blow a US Programmers mind: Where is the forced listening? How does this grow the database? How does it build the brand? We need to integrate multiple platforms!
Nah. They just did it to be entertaining. And most US CHR's can only dream of the kind of numbers this station pulls. Which are only eclipsed by their revenue.
If you are "into" Dancing With The Stars, then you are really into Dancing With The Stars. The only station that I've seen truly pull off a good version of this is KHTS in San Diego. And it was GREAT. Their version had the DJ's each paired with a dancing instructor. Posted vids as you watched their evolution. I mean, the jocks could dance. It was pretty damn cool.
I bring this up because a station had one of those really bizarre client requests from a dance studio that doubles as a bar. I'm waiting for a station to do it with jocks and listeners paired up, weekly updated videos, on-line voting. Perhaps a live final event. Multiple client potential. And it taps into a smoking hot popular TV show.
American Midol
One of the stations did Midol Day Weekend (I have promos) for Mothers Day. American Midol is pretty simple. You take ten seriously PMSing women, put them in the conference room and play "Marley & Me" or "Ghost" or "Terms Of Endearment". Last woman to cry, wins.
Tramp Stamps
One of the morning shows is going to solicit, ala Buttbook, photos of listeners lower back tats for an on-line competition. This should get you started. http://mag.rankmytattoos.com/top-twenty-worst-tramp-stamp-tattoos.html
