Things That Are "Hot" Traffic Generators
KDWB in Minneapolis is very good at continually having something good and voteable on kdwb.com. Valentines Pajama Party pics into a school spirit thing and into March MILF Madness.
In general, "Hot" as a prefix works. Mix in Boise just got 516,000 pageviews in 19 days for their Hot Mom's contest. A little perspective? Arb says there are 472,000 people in the market.
"But Paige, Hot Mom's is a Rock promotion." Sure. Only Rock listeners are moms and only Rock listeners want to be considered attractive.
What else could be Hot and voteable?
Lifeguards. Shoot me an email and I'll reply with a pic from when B-94.5 in Baton Rouge did it.
Sports Fans. Bulls, Heat, Grizzlies, Lightening, Bruins, Sharks....WGFR in Buffalo is REALLY good with this stuff.
Dads. A couple of stations have done DILFS: Dad's I'd Like To Frame.
Cops. One of the CBS stations did this.
UPS Drivers. Perfect for the at-work audience.
Babies. No, they're not hot. But if you've done Baby Idol, you know the response it gets.
Felons. About to happen "somewhere". You must have spent at least one night in the Gray Bar Hotel to enter.
Teachers. Buy me a beer and let me tell you about Ms. O'Brien....
Co-Workers. "Office Hottie" as done by The Beat in Vancouver, KLUC in LV, Radiowave in Windhoek and currently up and running at http://www.hot899.com/inside.asp?id=4112&mn=2&cc=1 Hot 89.9 in Ottawa (please peruse the client involvement) and Hot in Houston http://hothits957.radio.com/hot-95-7-office-hottie/ LOOK at the comments.
Interns. Every workplace has interns. Why not? WPXY in Rochester did an Intern Talent Competition on their site. Dave at KDWB annually does some kind of talent thing with his cadre of free help.
Grads. Again, we're not going for "hot" but for something like Magna Cum Z-102.9. It's really just a chance to have listeners submit grad pics and vote.
Heroes. Another non-Hot thing, but certainly a hot button. Hometown Heroes. People who are volunteers or active in the community. The NBC affiliate in the Twin Cities does it. HUGE. Or focus on the military. OR...HomeFRONT Heroes.
Am I missing anything. UNDOUBTEDLY. But it's a starting point to work from.
