Promotions is the Art of standing out. Doing something that, even though the prize may be the same as the competition, your methodology is the one that people remember.
For...instance. No less than four stations in Ottawa are sending people to see the Glee Tour in Toronto. The other stations were doing really exciting things like having people sign up to be a VIP, click and register. That's hard stuff to beat. It really epitomizes "show business." (Matt Tell at Clear Channel in Minneapolis says I need to be more sarcastic.)
So, with the exact same prize:
- Hot 89.9 qualified listeners
- They came to the station on Friday morning
- They got a big cup 'o Slushie
- And threw it on either Mauler or Rush
- One of the cups said "You Won!" at the bottom of it
