Ticket Blast
Taylor Swift played Heinz Stadium to 52,000 people last month. Star got a bunch of tickets to the show for contesting day-of and did the tried-true-and-tested Ticket Blast. This started as Cash Blast at Power 96 in Miami and has since been done for Jingle Ball tickets at KDWB, George Straight tickets at KAJA in San Antonio and for lottery tickets at B-103.9 in Ft. Myers.
The concept is simple: at an appt. time we're going to open the phone and for the next twenty minutes, if you get through (ie: we answer the studio line), you win. This seems plausible. All I have to do is get through in 20 minutes? I could do that. That's seemingly possible. Phone melt. After every song you announce a few more names and at the end of the time period, you collage back all the screaming winners. It sounds like you took 900 winners.
As it always does, in Pittsburgh, it killed. Save this for the next time you have copious amounts of tickets. Or cash.
Concert Thievery
From the lovely and talented Mark Anderson at CBS/Pittsburgh:
Extremely customer service oriented.
They have people canvassing the stands looking for superfans who get to spend time with her after the show at a "T Party".
Mom gives a backstage tour to the Country radio people.
Pretty cool.
We changed format to "T108", playing 12 hours of her music.
At the meet and greet she thanked me personally, and mentioned to some other people that she had it on all day and was excited to hear some of her favorite songs (album tracks) getting play on the radio.
Really classy all around.
Out of town radio people were complimenting me on all that we did.
Star had a big line of people waiting to sing Taylor Karaoke.
Y108 did a Tweet and Meet and became the #2 top Twitter "person" (the language the metrics site uses) in Pittsburgh for the weekend after Taylor herself.
Probably about a thousand people walking around the venue with bright red "Send Me Backstage" T-Shirts with Y108 logo on front and back. We sat in seats a could spot people in them on the other side of the floor.
The competitor tried to copy this with "make your own Take Me Backstage shirt, include the sponsor logo" but it was just embarrassing for them. I think I saw two.
Concert replay of the set list from start to finish kept folks entertained through the usual couple hours of post-even traffic in the North Shore.
And about 4 rolls of banners.
The Steelers called us today and asked us to come take them down, as it was polluting the area. :)
