Breeders Cup
It was huge in the late 80's-early '90s, experienced a resurgence around the Millenium and then went on hiatus. And now it's back as "Miss Conception" at Hot 93.5 in Sudbury.
For the uninitiated, this is the "first couple to get pregnant wins" contest. It's a great buzz promotion and like most great contests, it passes the litmus test of it conceivably (pun intentional) being a Reality TV program. And the sales potential is ridiculous. http://hot935.ca/index.asp?mn=3&id=2141&cc=6
Back To School
An AE "somewhere" reached out to me this morning and has a mall that is doing something for a tax free weekend and there will be a seemingly unending lineup of stations doing remotes. Said AE wanted to do something a little more exciting than a canopy and a prize wheel. I told her that that was impossible. But we came up with two ideas that any mall would love.
First, how about doing a version of the Dollar Bill Game. With the client's collusion we've inserted bills into twenty of the merchants' tills. Come. Shop. Save your change and as you get ready to go home, stop by the station booth and compare your bills' eleven digit/letter security numbers to the twenty that are listed on a board. If you have any of them, you win whatever prize is associated with that bill, ie: $100 giftcard or maybe free meals at the food court.
Magic in Colorado Springs did a Wendy's promotion where your receipt was your game piece. In the case of BTS at a mall, after "your weekend", post five numbers on your website. Compare your receipts and win mall discounts and prizes based on how many numbers you match. You bypass the lottery rule by being able to walk in and get a receipt for just asking.
