Redneck Wedding
In the beginning, there were The Redneck Olympics at the Eagle in Norfolk. And it was good. KORD in the Tri Cities took it to the next level http://www.1027kord.com/common/page.php?id=33
(Morning Shows) Virtual Vacancy
A lot of you did stuff with the (faked) dry eraseboard chick who resigned on video.
I heard a good topic series on Scotty Davis' show at WNOU. All about quitting and telling off employers and customers. It was good.
But you need a visual. With the Steve Slater "thing" there wasn't the all-emasculating, competition crushing, 1,000,000 hit driving, evening news reported morning show bit.
Which is sad because there is probably no more of a Universal. The human being who has not wanted to go out in a blaze of glory has not been born; at one point or another we've all wanted to quit in style.
Much like helping people propose in true Show Biz Style for Valentines Day, we have resources to help someone resign that would be historic and topical. At least topical for the next week at the most.
I'd create iquitthisb*tch.com and find a listener who has nailed down a new gig and wants to resign with a ! on it.
For it to truly be worthy of a link that people would care to share, you'll want to shoot a music video. This isn't Rocket Science. Any 13 year-old with an iPhone can make a music video. You get your listener, rewrite (as an example) Eminem so it's "Not Afraid To Blow This Joint", shoot, post and share to the hundreds of pop culture websites that will drive the hits and help you get spread around. Additional evidence like stupid memos, a photo of the boss's desk with all his bowling trophys, his car's vanity plates, whatever you can do to highlight their arrogance and lend credit to why this person wants to quit.
I *will* err on the side of caution. Defamation isn't funny. Saying "Mr. Tell, that stupid thing where you always tried to drop coins in my cleavage.." will get you in trouble. You also want to make sure that you don't sleight a client. Pick a listener who is quitting a small business or other kind of company that would never ever advertise. Life's too short to create a music video for Debby who is quitting the Accounting Dept. at the local Pepsi distributor.
