The Best Grammy's Promotion Of 2012
I say "Part II" because Wild in Tampa was the first station to award a Grammys trip playing musical chairs. Look at the 1:07 mark; that's the payoff. You don't get that with "click and register" or "like us on Facebook!".
This was done Thursday night at Hot 107.9 in Ft. Wayne.
When in doubt and you have a money-can't-buy prize, think:
- What Would Monty Hall Do?
- And what was a great game at birthday parties in 4th grade?
KDWB once had 101 families play 1960's board games like Chutes & Ladders and Candyland to award a trip to Disney for four. The Disney rep was there and was BLOWN AWAY. THe next year they did a trip to the Superbowl with 800 people playing musical chairs on the field at the Metrodome.
Road Rage For Backstage
Simple enough: you get five listeners in the studio in the morning. You send them each out with a promo person and a video camera. You put a "Ask Me About My Grandchildren" sticker in the rear window. They have to drive the MINIMUM legal speed. First car to get flipped off, wins the backstage.
Car Alarm Olympics
I wrote this on a scrap of paper last month when I was in Los Angeles and a car alarm went off outside my window at 4:30 am and wouldn't go off. This is actually an old, tested bit. But it's simple; you take a winner to a mall and they have thirty second to run through the parking lot, pounding on car hoods. You win $10 for each alarm that goes off. Audio is outstanding.
