Valentines 2012
With just 13% of the precincts reporting, here at CPR VD Headquarters, we’re prepared to call Valentines 2012…for Mix in San Antonio. Where Russell Rush helped a listener ambush his girlfriend with a marriage proposal…and…a wedding. A Flash Mob Wedding with all her friends and family. Links and the proverbial “more” at http://www.mix961.com/pages/popthequestion2012.html
We also of course called Texas for McGovern in ’72…
A Pajama Party Last night was the annual DaveRyan PJ Party with KDWB. Pics are here. I was of course watching “Up” with my daughters. http://www.kdwb.com/pages/pjparty/photos_2012.html
HAD To Happen In Memphis “Worst Valentines Ever” was won by a guy who brought his parents in from out of town to meet the girlfriend and her parents: they were cousins who hadn’t see each other in 30 years.
May Da Vorce Be With You Q-104 in Halifax divorced two gay women Tuesday morning. It wasn’t JUST the divorce but the whole “homa sexchul” thing that offended the markets religious community, who worked overtime to spread the word about the promotion.
Shot Through The Heart Kiss in Casper did the whole “blow the crap out of the ex’s stuff” promotion. http://kisscasper.com/shot-through-the-heart-contest-winners-get-sweet-vindication-video/
Blind Date #1 At Hot 93.5 in Sudbury. From the lovely and Canadian Sherri K: We had singles enter their details online and they were set up according to their info. Morning show called them to let them awkwardly talk while we all got to listen. This was like a reality show on the radio. The first couple that was set up, a co worker called to inform us -the man is MARRIED. W.T.F!! That sucked…;) But luckily the other 5 couple we set up were actually single. One man lived with his mom. Another woman promised “if he’s hot he is definitely coming back to my house after” That was an interesting day too.
A Contest That Sucks From Kate McGwire at Mix 106 in Boise: We are doing This Contest Sucks-9 listeners will be sucking on their significant other’s neck, hopefully all day and night. The rules state that there has to be applied pressure on the neck so hickeys will be given today. They get a 2 minute break at the top of each hour and have to switch from being the sucker to being sucked. Suckiest couple aka the last couple sucking wins a trip for 2 to Las Vegas to see Kelly Clarkson. They get a lunch break with garlic and onion pizza.
Hash Brown Heaven WCOL in Columbus married a couple at a Waffle House. Only three cardiac arrests from high cholesterol were reported.
Hate Love Day Yesterday was S.A.D. (Single Awareness Day) and The Morning Mayhem at KOB-FM in Albuquerque let listeners destroy mementos of past loves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PD4TY_cYSQ&feature=youtu.be
Kissing Booths The Carr & Company show from B-105 in Cincinnati had a kissing booth in Loveland today and were dispensing copious kisses. The chocolate kind.
Blind Date #2 Hot in Mankato took blindfolded listeners out for a night of visually challenged romance: Blind Date went off AWESOME!! We had two people who were legitimately dedicated to the concept, and it was a great looking and sounding piece. All throughout the date people came up to them, and us and told stories about their first/blind dates. People bought them drinks, and we even had a near fatality during bowling! (Caught on tape!) A local paper even interviewed one of our participants!!
Bitter Ball The Guy Kramer from Play in Tampa hosted their first annual Bitter Ball last tonight. There was a Blind Date Cabana, giant screen for displaying texts, free booze for the women and potentially a lot of hooking up.
Dinner & Bling Jeff, Jenn and Fritsch at Q-102 in Cincy hooked one listener up with reservations at a swanky restaurant. They had men singing cheesy love songs to win. And kids were phoning Roses Are Red poetry in to win their mom $1500 in jewelry.
At 2:45 am CST, we’re still very early in Valentines 2012 so the field is still in flux.
