Fake Book Friends
I have a small legion of people who I've used to help juice comments on wall posts. For everything from generating interest about an on-sale to a stunt we're doing somewhere right now that got 8000 views in six hours last night. You should make sure you have 20 or 30 go-to people for this kind of thing. Just people you can quickly message and ask to go and get some comments rolling.
Great Moments In Prom-otions
One of the things that I attempt to pound into people's gray matter every Spring is to keep your eyes open for local news stories about kids who can't go to prom for any number of reasons. Fly 92 in Albany pulled off the all time best save when they (and clients) put together a backyard prom on about two weeks notice, for a girl who was told she couldn't bring her boyfriend to the prom because he was 21. He was also a decorated Iraq war vet with three tours of duty under his belt. It was huge.
Last month I spotted a story on cnn.com about a girl in Philly who got dumped and couldn't go to prom because her school doesn't allow you to go solo. In nine hours Chio, Shila, Tingle and everyone at Wired stalked her down, got her on the air and were prepared to ask Wiz Khalifa to take her and/or have a legion of guys in the studio for her to screen for her date. Sadly, she got asked later in the day. But it was a great interview with her in the morning and there are still a few things that could pop from this.
Again, keep your eyes open and be ready to help some kid attend the big dance.
Theme Parks
To add to the stuff that has gone out already, one of the stations has a soft drink that is going to
be doing some things with the local park. A few of the ideas were:
- Thrills & Spills. On-site at retailers. Have contestants race a course of cones holding a tray with several cups of (sode) on it. Timed. And with the most (soda) unspilled for the passes.
- Love At First Fright. You have five guys and five women and the audience matches them for a date at the park for Halloween. Much like Mix 'N Match For Mraz that Fly did in Albany.
- Scream Queen. Audition listeners to be the Official Scream of the client's spots.
- Could also be done as "iScream" where you ID clips of terror from films for passes and concession treats at the park.
