Notarazzi
First, the lovely and Australian Phil Dowse with Absolute Dowse Vodka says that one of his stations in South Africa did "The Voice" as "The Face". Three listeners sing. You post their faces and match the voice to the face to win. Also done as "The Scream" with matching a scream on a roller coaster to the DJ who yelled it. Each of the jocks was miked and sent on the new ride at the client theme park.
Every week there is some celebrity gossip pic that makes the circuit and appears on everyone's website. Lindsay Lohan passed out. Tara Reid looking sloppy. Miley Cyrus doing, well, anything. Kim Kardashian being stupid and talentless in tight pants bent over at Rite Aid buying Cialis.
You could do Notarazzi ask people to recreate the shot and post to FB or email in. Best by 5 pm wins. Much like but far simpler to do for the listeners than The Fake Film Festival, that Virgin Radio does in Vancouver
The Mistake Show
Drew Carey did it on his TV show. The Eagle in Norfolk did it on their website for April Fools; they announced that there were 37 errors on the website. Spot them all and win. Their numbers for the day hit the stratosphere.
A couple of the morning shows have done it as a one day feature. Listen from 6 to 10 and then enter every mistake that was made for (whatever). Not that you'd want someone glued to the show for four straight hours...
Pictionary
This was a Dave Ryan contest from a few weeks back. He whispered a "subject" to Steve-O who had ten seconds to hastily draw it. This was then posted and the first person to guess what it was, won. From Dave: We did it twice. Once with huge web numbers and once with mediocre web numbers. The difference is the first time we did it for a big prize and let it sit up online for about 10 or 15 minutes before we took calls on it. That was huge. The second time we put it up for a smaller prize and immediately took callers. Almost no action on it. Lesson learned.
Secondary & Thirdadary Characters
Great morning shows usually have some people they use for occasional stupidity. Like Verinder who was a gas station manager in SFO that Wild would use for things like doing traffic or marrying two men. Ditto with Hammerin' Hank who got adopted by Jo Jo and was a big part of the station for years. Brian and
Chrissy at Fly in Albany has her dog who picks football and horses. I love the idea of getting someone like the station janitor to read celebrity tweets. This is from Conan.
