Election Imaging
Wrote some the past few days. The cycle will be in full swing almost immediately. As soon as the Games are over, it'll be omnipresent. And yet...stations will miss it.
First, you can:
- Attack "the other station", as in "The other station has outsourced jobs to other cities. These aren't (market) values. Call the other station and tell them to stop hiring people from other cities who don't know (bleep) about (market)."
- Or have attack ads by the airstaff, against each other. I have some good examples if you'd like to hear them.
And, yes, there will be recorded "political spots" on a station that accuses the other radio station of playing songs from Kenya.
Facebook Do's & 2 Don't
- AMP in Calgary is giving $10,000 to one random person who likes their comment. It was up over 60,000 with a million views after four days.
- Don't set "when this happens, we'll do something" goals. Because if you don't hit your goal, you're going to look like an idiot. TWO MONTHS ago a CHR somewhere announced that when they hit 7000 friends, they'd give away a pair of Bieber tickets. Their friends have grown about 400 in 60 days. WAY short of their goal.
- This? This is genius. For every new friend that Radiowave in Windhoek ads, they're putting a buck in a pot. One friend gets it all. http://www.facebook.com/paige.nienaber/posts/262315790547383
NBA
One of the stations has twenty pairs of tickets to a pre-season game.
One idea would be to take a dial position number of callers and assign them each to a shot.
Morning guy goes out and starts taking free throws. If you're #23 and he hits the 23rd, you win. You play until you run out of tickets.
"Roll In The Dough". You wrap a couple of people in doublesided tape. Head to toe. You throw some money in the circle, penguin walk them out and on cue, they fll to the ground an start flopping around. After 30 seconds you help them to their feet and they win what's stuck to them. I did this at an NHL game and it killed. There's something about people flopping around drunkenly that enthralls the people who stayed in their seats during intermission.
