Ipad Tag
Ticket Tag has turned out to be a homerun at every station that has done it. AMP in LA decided to do it with iPads. And it was large. Q in Memphis did and Chris Taylor says it might be the most nuts he'd ever seen the phone lines. They took a caller at 7:20 and they needed to know the last winner from the previous day. They won and then announced the next contest time, usually in the late afternoon. That caller had to know the name of the 7:20 winner. And so on and so on.
Things You Hack, For $500 Alex
As witnessed by the 8000 stations that do Pay Your Bills, it's an effective promotion. But I've always thought it kind of lacked any show biz "zing" to it. You call my name. I call in. You pay my bills. Cool.
With all of the hacking that is in the news, a station-somewhere is reprising Delete Your Debt. It's basically Beat The Bomb but with the station hacking into the credit card companies computer and deleting your purchases, item by item. You stay with it as long as you feel lucky.
There are tune in times but most importantly, like BTB, it plays to the majority of people who are sitting and just passively listening. They WANT to hear you lose everything. That's far more exciting to them than somebody winning.
It also allows you to personalize it with the creation of your hacker who is interning as part of a program with the local Juvenile Courts.
Do This
One of the PD's has sat down and identified the key 14 schools that the station needs to win over. Then, using a calendar and a schedule of the prep football season, they've mapped out an attack that will get them at each and every one of them during the 2012 highschool football season...and...they've spiked in what I call "hinterland" schools. Schools that are in surveyed areas but are generally ignored by Radio because we're idiots and only think that people in highrises and subdivisions get meters.
