Haiku Football
When Katie Fitter was doing Traffic on KOB-FM, she used to spice it up and do themes. Why? Her attitude was that with every other station doing the same thing, she wanted to stand out. My favorite was Haiku Traffic. Short. To the point. It stood out.
I was listening this morning to a station recap yesterday's football in excrutiating detail. How about Haiku Football? Or Sixth Grade Gym Teacher Football. Or OCD Football.
Again, to stand out, you need to NOT do what everyone is doing. Which is why Fly 92 in Albany has their Friday "picks" done by Chrissy Cavotta's dog.
Petarazzi
I Googled this. Except for some fancy pet food stores and groomers, no one has done this.
In the beginning there was Baby Idol. And it was good. And stations got two years worth of hits in 72 hours. And joy rang across the land. (Sales piece from Hot in DC is attached)
This "submit a pic and tell all your friends to vote" has been done as Office Hottie, Baby Bumps, Backstage *sses, Hot Popo, Baby Gaga (Y-94 in Fargo where listeners [many] dressed there toddlers up as prostitutes, any number of Hot Mom promotions and even Mangled Mouth (for dental surgery).
The Concept
An on-line beauty pageant for pets whose owners have dressed them up creatively as some of today's biggest stars.
There could be genres:
· Music Stars
· TV and Film
· Athletes (much like 97 Rocks' "Sexiest Bills" fanSubmit. And encourage your friends and family to go and vote.
Top vote getters get cash or prizes from clients.
Potential Clients
· Grocery stores or box stores that have pet food
· A tour or promoter who is bringing through an act
· Brands of pet food
· A local event geared towards pets and pet owners
· Groomers, vets or kennelsCanspiracy
As God is my witness I once filled a car with cans of Beenie Weenies and for a month, it went around town and you had to fill out an entry black to ID/guess how many weenies were in the car. That's right. Not the number of cans, how many wieners.
The Concept
In November tie together a grocery client and a car dealer. Every day you have the car and a rental truck on location. Come by, try to guess a total'ed item (like the number of meatballs or pears) in the car...while dropping off items for a food drive.
It's the hook for getting people to come and donate. And whoever gets closest to the determined total, wins $500 in Thanksgiving and holiday food from the grocery client.
Potential Clients
In addition to the car dealer and the grocery chain, any non-competitive clients that want more than an appearance.
