Egg-zecution
Thank you to Robin Thompson at Radiowave in Windhoek who passes along a bit from a station in South Africa. It was actually turned into a promotion for a car dealer. So they made money and they did a great stunt.
The morning guys did a pretty standard bet between themselves over the outcome of a big rugby match. (Insert football, hockey, basketball, synchronized swimming) The loser went to the dealership and listeners came to barrage him with 1000 (past due, not safe for consumption) eggs. The station and the car dealer donated 1500 fresh eggs to school lunch programs.
This is the testimonial from the client: "A month ago we were an unknown entity - today not many people do not know where McCarthy Ford and Mazda Pretoria East is!" He adds that he would definitely go the more alternative radio route again. "Many motor industry players continue to use generic print ads, which really don't stand out and tend to get lost in the clutter. In my opinion (and experience), they're basically throwing money down the drain. I pioneered the use of radio at my previous dealership with great success and I think the Egg-Secution concept once again proves the unique ability of radio to really bring a brand to life. This has resulted in us raising awareness of McCarthy Ford and Mazda in the minds of our target audience and establishing its association with the greater Pretoria area.
He's Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack...
I would be remiss (to "miss" and then do it again) if I didn't mention that Chet Buchanen, who hosts not-even-arguably the biggest toy drive in Radio is at it again. This is the 14th year he's lived on a scaffold for 11 days. Nothing is bigger then this. www.kluc.com
New Years Party Crashing
If you are just at a club, that would be pretty sad. Everything you do on NYE is for the between-the-songs vibe. To accentuate the sound for the 1000's of parties that will hopefully be using you as music. And that's why crashing a couple dozen parties and getting calls and pics (up the next morning) is important.
How do you pick the parties you hit? On the website. Come up with a cool graphic and give them a quick form to fill out. In addition to the obvious "where" and "when" and "how many", you'll want to spice it up and ask some stuff like?
*Potential of nudity? 0%, 10%, 25% 50%, 75%, or 100%?
- Domestic or imported beer?
- Accessibility to a hot tub?
- Illegal fireworks?
- Have the police ever been summoned to this residence before?
- Describe briefly the array of food our under-paid and over-worked staff can except to find.
Another consideration when selecting locations is distance between them. Map out the night so you only have 10-15 minutes max between hits.
