"Flu". No Longer Just A Verb.

The flu outbreak is still a huge news story and is only going to be top of mind until Lindsay does something stupid, Justin tries crack or something REALLY important like Taylor dating Selena Gomez occurs. Until then, since this adversely effects a lot of your listeners and allegedly we have this license where we're supposed to actually care about them, then here are some suggestions to acknowledge the flu.

F.L.U. Shots

Q in Memphis had some kind of "ladies drink free" club night so they called them FLU Shots. Free Liquor Unlimited.

From The "Duh Dept."

Prevention. Prevention. Prevention. That's what they're pounding on CNN and the other news. And it's not Mensa stuff. Wash your hands repeatedly for 30 seconds at a time. Don't touch you eyes. The basics. Instead of a link, post the basics.

For The Germophobes

Facebook has an app that will tell you when your friends post anything that is symptomatic, ie: Lacey posts that she has a "really horrible sore throat". I get alerted and put her on my No Fly List for two weeks.

Flu Aways

You have some getaways? There's your name. "Listen to win and go to the Grammys, and we'll throw in antibacterial soaps and ducttape to seal your hotel room door."

Your Captive Audience

What do people do when they're sick. In 2013...they lay in bed and (hopefully listen to the radio for 14 hour blocks of time) and dork around on FB. Work them. Ask questions designed to engage them: "I'm so sick I feel like (insert term" and pick a winner. EVERYONE has a family "thing" they do to feel better. It's a virus. It's not going to work, but it's a great thread starter.

House Calls

Lenny from KIFM in San Diego delivered Gatorade, wet wipes, soup and aspirin to people shut in at home. In a surgical suit.

For Sales

They should be calling on Campbells Soup, Walgreens, CVS, Walmart (pretty much anything with a pharmacy) and ANYONE offering flu shots
