Spy On Your Neighbors Thursday
Kiss in Dallas played around with an old Wild/Tampa weekend methodology and had listeners report on the activities of their neighbors in an NSA kinda way.
"No One Puts Stickers On Their Cars Anymore"
No, but then they never did. The actually successful sticker campaigns always used events and DJ's physically putting stickers on cars. Like the mega stops at Wild in SFO, Z-90 in San Diego, Jamz in Orlando and at WPGC.
KSFM did Taco Tuesdays in Sacramento with Taco Bell. They would set up at a TB drive thru from noon to 1:02 pm and if you let the station sticker your car, you got a free taco. If you already HAD a sticker on your car you got a taco and a soft drink.
One of the biggest music events in Radio is the Boise Music Fest that Peak puts on. The one I went to two summers ago drew 75,000 people and they make rev equal to that of some eastern bloc countries off it. Kiss is doing The Big Stick for tickets. http://www.1033kissfm.com/pages/landing_photos_gallery?gid=16083&gf=145
Further Proof That Social Media Could Be For More Than Spam & Stalking Girls From High School
Sandy Hook and the Boston Marathon were really good examples of how our industry has dropped the auto-post crap and actually engaged the audience during bad times. People like numbers so look at the stats from AMP in Calgary during the floods of this past weekend. Oh, and their Calgary Strong song got 175,000 plays in 48 hours on line. Digital corporate people HATE those kinds of numbers
And then you had the NBA championship and the Stanley Cup. Power in Miami's social media and especially Twitter numbers were their highest ever.
In Chicago and CBS? Killed. From Danielle Clasing:
Tips: Get the photo gallery up immediately, and have your Getty photos ready to post once it happens.... And keep posting with all the trending hash tags on Twitter. Also, Googlizing Facebook and Twitter as well as the homepage helps.
I'm pretty sure these are the highest number of likes on a post made by US99 or B96, ever. Right now Facebook insights only go to 6/22, but it will be interesting to see how many new likes and how big our reach was during last through through this week.
