Back To School
An AE "somewhere" reached out to me this morning and has a mall that is doing something for a tax free weekend and there will be a seemingly unending lineup of stations doing remotes. Said AE wanted to do something a little more exciting than a canopy and a prize wheel. I told her that that was impossible. But we came up with two ideas that any mall would love.
First, how about doing a version of the Dollar Bill Game. With the client's collusion we've inserted bills into twenty of the merchants' tills. Come. Shop. Save your change and as you get ready to go home, stop by the station booth and compare your bills' eleven digit/letter security numbers to the twenty that are listed on a board. If you have any of them, you win whatever prize is associated with that bill, ie: $100 giftcard or maybe free meals at the food court.
Magic in Colorado Springs did a Wendy's promotion where your receipt was your game piece. In the case of BTS at a mall, after "your weekend", post five numbers on your website. Compare your receipts and win mall discounts and prizes based on how many numbers you match. You bypass the lottery rule by being able to walk in and get a receipt for just asking.
Florists
One of the stations got a promotional request from a florist. In the past the client has been on all of the expected Hallmark Holidays but now wants a promotion to stand-alone in August. With that said, here are a few suggestions if you have a similar or potential client like this:
- Flower Or Intestinal Disorder. Dysuria? Intestinal disorder. Arbutus? Flower.
- Floral Report. You're having a pop quiz. In less then 100 words, write a report on (topic) but can't use the words (give five words related to the topic) Pick one a day to win roses for their spouse
- Pluck And Win. For remotes. Decorate an intern or promo person in colored post-it notes to look like a flower. Come to the event, pluck a petal and win what's written underneath
- "Who Let The Dogs Out". Get out of the doghouse. During Afternoon Drive email in why you DESPERATELY need to bring some flowers home to the Mrs., ie: what did you do since breakfast that will make this a really cold and silent dinner without a gesture of armistice.
