Five Rays Of Hope For The Medium
The Stuff That Actually Matters I was disturbed that Spoon at Wild in San Antonio took time away from auto-posting pop gossip on their social media and focusing on developing his character, but I guess it was worthwhile. There is a local girl that had a story on TV about her wish to meet Selena Gomez. She's six and has an inoperable tumor in her brain stem. With NO hype or press releases, Spoon hooked her up via technology with her star. Sirius can't do that. An iPod can't do that. Spoon's blog:http://www.sanantonioiswild.com/pages/spoon.html
The Episiotomy Is Going To Be A Bitch Corey Tremere at Ocean 100 in Charlottetown is supporting his wife with her 2nd pregnancy by getting outfitted with a pregnancy belly.
Junk In The Trunk The first time I heard this done was at a station in British Columbia and was immediately jumped on by Chet and Spence at KLUC. Simple bit: you take the cohost, lock them in the trunk of a car with a cell phone, drive around and try to disorient them and offer a prize to the first listener who can find them and let them out. They did it at Hot 92.3 https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=187498408088976&set=vb.137156289789855&type=2&theater
Massive Crushing Concert Ownership Bruno Mars came through Phoenix last month. From Carina Ianuzzi at CC:
We kicked it off with a "Suite Life with Bruno Mars" Winning Weekend on-air. Pair of suite tix to the sold out show, Meet and Greet and $300 merch raid. Text to win, listen to the keyword to text all weekend long. Total of over 4000 text entries in 2.5 days.
Monday we kicked off the Tweet 2 Your Suite contest just on twitter with on-air push. Submit your best Bruno Mars look and tweet with hashtag #kissbruno. Day of show we pulled all the pics and turned into a voting contest for best look. Total of over 3,000 unique visitors from 10am-3pm day of show, plus thousands of participants on twitter.
On-site was next level. We merged our 2 biggest stations KMXP and KZZP with both morning shows and afternoon shows and had a stage like you wouldn't believe. We gave away tickets to Bruno on-site, upgraded seats, Ellie Goulding meet and greet and tickets to upcoming live nation shows (Carly Rae, Drake, Selena, etc). We ran a text to win contest on-site for both station: Text BRUNO to 68255 for people to enter, they got a bounce back that said: "Thanks 4 entering w/ MIX & KISS FM. Winner chosen at 7:30pm. Don't forget to follow us @kissfmphoenix & @mix969". We pulled the winner and called her from my phone on-stage, winner was in audience and came up to claim her passes. Pretty dope how that worked out. Had over 2000 entries on-site.
A Concert Mantra Reminder He/she who hath the mosteth bodyth winneth. Please note ALL of the black shirted Journal promo people at Taylor last night.
And then note things we don't do: we don't text at our booth and we create activity and "stuff" so that our poor promo people aren't left standing there seemingly useless and alone.
