Halloween-izing The Website
Last year was a tie between Wired in Philly and KZIA in Cedar Rapids for which station did the best job of reflecting the vibe. A couple of projects that would be good would be to get photos of your airstaff from when they were kids and were dressed up for Halloween. Change their jock photos. Another project for an intern would be to research and find shots of artists and celebrities from when they were kids and in costume. Post them, ID them, and win prizes. And next? Pictures of the airstaff and celebrities from when they were children and sitting on Santa's lap.
Squat, Cough & Win
Actually, I'm kind of glad I missed this. Dave Ryan did this once at KDWB. Basically they had Corey Foley squat, cough and there was a disgusting squirting, squishy noise (a mustard bottle) and you won what plopped out. I predict this is going to be HUGE on Lite Rock stations.
A Scary Poll
Every year some local publication invariably does a "The Best Of..." issue and has the readers vote on the "best" in seemingly 300 categories. It's usually a pretty big issue for these papers or magazines. What if, for Halloween, you mock it and do a "Worst Of..." poll on the website. Or "Scariest" poll. The scariest movie theater. The scariest public bathroom. The scariest place to go on a first date. Etc.
"I Have A Meeting With The Bobs"
One of the morning co-hosts has an idea that could be large and also, if you were to spycam the person's desk, translate into massive webhits.
Find a listener who hates their job and has another one lined up, and then have them undertake the task of getting canned. See how far they can push it before getting fired. Start with being late. Then parking in the bosses spot. Then sleeping on their desk. Then watching porn on their computer. Then gutting a fish on their desk.
It's basically a Reality TV show. Which most GREAT promotions are.
