Free Fall
There's an umbrella right there. Everyone who wins in October gets, say, a ball that gets dropped out of a helicopter. Closest to a target wins.
(Verb) Cancer
Breast Cancer is one of those charity "things" that we, as an industry, don't totally suck at. And some stations, like Q-102 in Cincinnati do some pretty amazing things with the month. Which is October BTW.
There's a local event here called "Tackle Cancer" and it's a charity highschool football tournament. What if you did it with offices playing flag football? A dial position number of dollars to play per team and the winning workplace would get limos to lunch and a movie.
Or play around with verbs:
Crush Cancer. Tie in an aluminum recycling place and donate the money.
Boot Cancer. Sell brightly colored shoelaces that people are encouraged to wear one day, as they did at Radiowave 96.7
Kick Cancer. A half time field goal attempt to try and raise money for the charity. I did this as an insured bit with an indoor soccer team circa 1988. One listener got an insured $50,000 kick at a target. If they made it they split the money with the Courage Center. Either way, they still each for $995.
Knockout Cancer. Amateur boxing night.
You get the idea.
Kara-jokey
Not one but two comedy tour promo requests came down yesterday. For tickets, "Kara-jokey" would have the DJ start a joke but leave off the punch line. First person to complete the joke with the intended line, wins.
