Missed Connection Monday
Ray and the morning show at Rewind 94.9 are the latest to stumble on the joy of reading Craigs List Missed Connections while playing "Careless Whisper" by George Michael.
When Taylor Comes To Town
The city of Fargo is getting more and better concerts than most big markets right now. Taylor, followed by Justin, followed by Pink.
From JT at Y-94:
Printed up a bunch of custom Taylor T-shirts with our logos on them, gave those out 2 days before the show at our studio. Bring your ticket, get a shirt. If we see you at the show we'll hook you up with seat upgrades, Taylor Swift gear etc. Saw the Y94 logo everywhere in the arena.
A month ago I had the intern butter up the businesses around the arena. We gave them some swag & tickets and in return got permission to sign their property (yard signs galore) - so on your way to the show and on your way out you saw our signage. The competition brought 2 wrapped city buses to a gas station near the arena...they blocked the pumps, a pepsi truck showed up for a delivery, then a fuel truck - apparently it was a nightmare and that's awesome!!! haha
Had my street girls outside the arena and at all major points of entry with signs & giving away free Taylor Swag I got from the label.
After the show I made them stand at all the doors and thank people for coming to "our" show, we handed out bounce back coupons to listen Monday for our cash contest! Competition put bouncebacks on everyones car windows, but a "wind storm" (yeah, that's what we're going to call it) must have come through because they were all gone by the time anyone returned to their cars
Canspiracy
As God is my witness I once filled a car with cans of Beenie Weenies and for a month, it went around town and you had to fill out an entry black to ID/guess how many weenies were in the car. That's right. Not the number of cans, how many wieners.
The Concept
In November tie together a grocery client and a car dealer. Every day you have the car and a rental truck on location. Come by, try to guess a total'ed item (like the number of meatballs or pears) in the car...while dropping off items for a food drive.
It's the hook for getting people to come and donate. And whoever gets closest to the determined total, wins $500 in Thanksgiving and holiday food from the grocery client.
Potential Clients
In addition to the car dealer and the grocery chain, any non-competitive clients that want more than an appearance.
