Christmas Wish
When stations first started doing this, it was a great "feel good" thing that gave you killer promos and pushed a lot of buttons with the listeners. By-and-large it's degenerated into a massive greedfest of entries like "I lost my job because I was smoking dope on the loading dock and now I can't afford to go to bartending school. Can I have a Wii?"
Which is one of the reasons some of the stations have switched it up and are now asking the audience to enter/nominate someone they know. Not themselves. A co-worker who's had a rough year. A student in their classroom who would appreciate something special after a difficult challenge in their lives. A neighbor. Whatever. It becomes way less of a beg-a-thon and returns it to what it was originally intended to be.
'Puter Checks
Spotchecking businesses and rewarding them for having the station "on" is an oldie but goodie. Why are we doing the same with at-work listeners' computers. If they are listening? They win. A bonus prize is awarded if they have the station in their "Favorites". Like what Z-90 in San Diego did with multiplying winnings of sticker spotee's for every pre-select that was set to the station.
"I Have A Meeting With The Bobs"
One of the morning co-hosts has an idea that could be large and also, if you were to spycam the person's desk, translate into massive webhits.
Find a listener who hates their job and has another one lined up, and then have them undertake the task of getting canned. See how far they can push it before getting fired. Start with being late. Then parking in the bosses spot. Then sleeping on their desk. Then watching porn on their computer. Then gutting a fish on their desk.
It's basically a Reality TV show. Which most GREAT promotions are.
"What Not To Scare"
The morning show producer at C95 in Saskatoon came up with the name for a costume/makeover contest.
"The Ghosts Of Halloween Past"
For the web, have listeners submit photos of the WORST most embarrassing things there parents sent them out in and do a voting competition for a gift card to a local costumer. Conversely, the jocks should be posting some of their kiddy pics. Laura at Joy-FM in Buffalo had a mom who was UBER cool with the whole "dressing the kid up" vibe and she annually posts some of her mom's best creations.
Listen For Nothing
About to debut somewhere. It's like when KZIA did The Paragraph That Pays. It mocks the competition's Song Of The Day. Listen for three seconds of dead air, call and win $100 four times a day. "But in a PPM world do we want to denigrate the music brand..." stop over-thinking things and occasionally dare to be stupid.
