Jock Bios
When was the last time you double checked your staff bios? Just to make sure they're not being idiots or using Radio Terms or talking about how Bread is their favorite artist? I was looking for "something" and stumbled on this one. I'd hire Lissa JUST on this bio. Dare to be silly. We're in Radio. We're not award winning journalists or heart surgeons. 94/9 in San Diego has dared to have some fun http://www.fm949sd.com/author#sthash.6dVuwflz.dpbs
Tree For All
Earth Day is April 22nd and is arguably one of the most under-utilized of the Hallmark Holidays. McDonalds in the Twin Cities does something every year that is pretty freaking amazing. At every one of their metro area, 11 county locations, while supplies last, come in and get a little sapling/seedling .
These are the people who do them. They're the Bag & Tag Promotional Trees and you can get customized artwork, ie: CLIENTS. http://www.itascagreenhouse.com/page18.html
Gown Town
I'm going to guess that Wild in Tampa was the first station to ask listeners to donate prom dresses that were then given to a Catholic charities group and doled out to low-income students so they could go to their big dance.
KDWB in Minneapolis and Kiss in Charlotte took it to the next level and have done huge, massive collections that culminated in Filene's style hysteria as young women rushed in to buy dresses for $25. The money went to station charities.
KLUC nailed it.
Baseball Cards
One of the stations has a AAA franchise in town that wanted the proverbial and very non-specific "something". I haven't seen a station do baseball cards for the airstaff in about a decade. The cards could be coupon'ed or barcoded for ticket discounts to games.
