Listener Powered Radio
Or "LePeR".
It goes without saying that you will all have huge summer events. Annual concerts. Fairs. Fests. Things that people dial in and expect from your station.
Keke Luv at 103.5 Kiss-FM in Boise does the biggest "awareness" campaign in Radio. Huge. Monstrous. He stays awake for four and a half days and broadcasts. Two years ago he ran a marathon every day for five days. All to call attention to child abuse. It's equal to Chet's toy drive in Las Vegas in it's mammothness (not a real word but it should be)
Because doing the same thing every time would be boring, they try to add a different element each year. The studio on the crane. And last year, listeners powered the broadcast by bike-generated electricity.
That's a hook. If you can't donate cash, then come and donate sweat and an hour of your life.
Concert Accoutrement
I'm a sucker for a canopy and a prize wheel but Kiss in Phoenix and 94/9 in San Diego had amazing, bone crunching concert victories. For Demi, Carina Ianuzzi got a neon tent.
For Imagine Dragons they added some hand held sign to the attack:
This was suppose to be a 'neutral show, which means all radio stations involved in promoting it had an equal opportunity to be a part of the show on site... but our crew took care of that and completely OWNED IT.
Out of all the stations that were out there, we were the most visible and with the most going on. It was a big event within a big show.. and that's all thanks to our amazing crew!
The promotions street team was relentless. They bannered everything and anything that could possibly be bannered, set up tents, signage, inflatables, gobo lights, interacted with listeners and concert goers and overall let everyone (inlcuding the other stations) know we were there to own it... and more banners!
Our on air staff also did a great job of showing face and interacting with listeners and making it sound like OUR show on air. Woods did an amazing job getting on the mic and doing what he does best.. looking pretty in front of the crowd.
