Spring Cleaning

Today marks the first day of Spring, so this weekend will be the first weekend of Spring. Duh.

"Spring Cleaning" as a methodology has been solid since it debuted in 1962. But unless you're a Hot AC, it might be a little too in-the-box.

"Hoarding" is a huge show. We created Tammy The Ticket Hoarder at Fly in Albany. She was this OCD intern who was in charge of the prize closet. The morning show went to get something and found it FILLED (and nicely ordered by color, material, genre, and alphabetized) to the roof. She'd never given anything away. Going in and taking taking tickets off the shelf while Tammy screams "No! I'd just got them filed by date and artist blood type!" would be great. Like Spring Cleaning but with a vibe to it.

Gas

Prices are back up. The Wolf in Greensboro became The Free Gas FM for a couple of weeks and did a $100 in gas at appt. times. Like any great contest, they've created a character: a rich oil man who is losing his mind because free gas is going to make it so he can't "buy my dumb (bleep) son into a frat" or "pay for Britney's botox treatments". You can never go wrong when bashing big oil. I had Randall Bliss's outtakes. He sounded like W doing Will Ferrell doing Harry Carey.

A Spin On Stickers

One of the stations looks like it will be getting two labels to pay for their stickers for the summer. One idea was something KUBE in Seattle did when they got five different versions of stickers done. An artist was on each one. So you picked the sticker that went on your car at their Super Sticker Stops. People who were spotted on the streets were then qualified for a flyaway to see the artist that was on their bumper. This could work with most formats. Definitely Country.

"Or" Morning Show Bits

"Spam Or Scam?". "Porno Movie Title Or Not?". "Hallmark Card Or Air Supply Song?". Michael Martin once did "Mexican Or Not" as a weekend contest, ie: Ricky Martin. Mexican or not? K-Rock in St. John has Bob Dylan coming through and did "Dylan Song Or 3's Company Episode?" for tickets.
