Cry For The Camera, Honey
Looking beyond prom, when is your next opportunity to do a great warm and fuzzy for teens? ("warm and fuzzy teens" is the ultimate filter tester) Graduations. It's an Ode To Parenthood to throw a great party for your graduate. But with unemployment, this might not be possible. So play off Christmas Wish. Find a parent who would love to surprise their kid with something that the kid is not expecting: a big ass grad bash.
Swag That Drives Webhits & Incentivises Loyalty Programs
I know that most of you don't care about webhits, don't do remotes and long-ago abandoned VIP Clubs and points programs. But if you're one of the neandrathals that still do any of these, look at http://www.webdecoder.com :)
This will tap into the hardcore group of listeners that earn points and track them and use them.
When I started this job, the guy who had it previously only offered this as words of wisdom: "Don't collect frequent flier points. Manage frequent flier points."
I didn't truly get that until three years later when my wife and I took a belated honeymoon and went to Australia. In First Class. Free. And 16 of the 18 nights were free.
So, I'm now one of those guys who makes sure they have my number when I book and when I check in.
Why do most Radio points programs seem to be stuck at a steady "5"? Because they're boring.
Seriously? Go to www.aa.com or www.hiltonhonors.com or http://goldpassport.hyatt.com
They have partners. They have bonus plans. They have contests and offers. Radio's programs are pretty one-dimensional. I lobbed out last week that it would be cool to partner with a casino and pool points with their programs. If I could use my KDWB points to get, say, chips at Mystic Lake Casino, I'd do it.
So look at the webdecoder thing. I got one when I checked in at an airport Holiday Inn last week. Possible 25,000 points. Just go to the hotel points program, hold the thing up in front of this little box on the website and get a code. Typed that in and it told me I won 100 points. Cool. For all of about two minutes of my time.
The sales opportunities and angles are staggering. And it could be one way to breathe some life into a program that has probably been on auto-pilot since 2005.
