Feet & Greet
This is an amazing concept and while we missed it the "date" for 2014, you could also do it locally for back to school. Donate new or gently-used shoes and be in the running for backstage passes. Also a great opportunity to tie in a box store or chain of footwear retailers. http://www.toms.com/one-for-one-en
Father Day 2015
Motherly Advice has been a massive homerun with the Bubba show at Star in Pittsburgh. Maybe you genderify it for this week.. http://starpittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2014/05/08/motherly-advice-from-100-7-star-listeners/
Tweet Teams
With so many radio stations having a 9-5, M-F person handling social media, or having the job tasked to the airstaff with no real direction other than to "tweet stuff", I was thinking that it might not be stupid to find a couple of the street teamers and make them your people to cover the night stuff, the weekend stuff, the concerts...the stuff that Debbie in IT will not probably go to.
The Hots in Ottawa and Norfolk have done something similar with Party Girl who was a street teamer whose gig was to go to clubs and events and get her photo taken with everyone.
My digital person just went to Dublin and covered Radio Days Europe for MBMI. Her assignment was to shoot, post, tag, link, any and everything to drive eyes to Bill Pasha's platforms.
Brandon Paski at Live in SFO adds: We do this a bit with our Instagram. Since our street team, jocks, and promo department usually have access to places the general public does not, we always feel it's cool to show things they may not see. For example, to promote our summer concert, I took a photo looking into the empty amphitheater from the stage and said something like "we hope to see you all here June 1"
We're definitely giving our more senior team members more access to social media to post cool stuff they see on the streets.
JT at Y-94 in Fargo says: I've recently been assigning one person to be on social media duty anytime we're out doing anything. That's their one focus, twitter, facebook & instagram.
The day to day stuff, we're using a combination of the Morning Show leading our social media sites with content, the rest of the dayparts fill in the gaps and then I've been slowly letting interns and college kids that work part-time for me fill in the rest of the gaps with stuff.
