#flashbackfriday
Career High Point #264. Having an advertiser point out that the Marilyn Monroe look-a-like you booked for their event also had a second job where she, uh, "provided enjoyable companionship to discreet men for a reasonable prize." Rainbow Foods "Entertainment Tonight", 1989.
Just Add Sand
Did you know....that you can rent sand. It be tru. Over the years I've or clients have used sand castle building as an addition or hook for what would otherwise be a, shudder, remote. Or when you have an event that is missing one final piece. In the case of Wild in OKC they got three piles and had three different groups of co-workers piling, sculpting and accessorizing in the parking lot of a bar with a patio and live music for a Friday afternoon happy hour. Best castle as judged by applause at 7 pm, won a full tab and food the following Friday for the entire workplace.
You can get it delivered and then picked up.
I Love This Contest
From WROR in Boston where 105 listeners will have a chance to to dig for sixty seconds to find a buried bottle worth a seven day trip to the Dominican Republic. Rules at http://www.wror.com/ShovelRules.aspx
Concert Ownership
The biggest concert of the year in Newfoundland is Salmon Fest. In the past they've had acts like The Eagles. This year they had Maroon 5, Pitbull and some other CHR acts. Hit 99.1 as usual stole it. Nice recap vid.
Great Web Graphics
KZIA in Cedar Rapids reminds me a lot of Cities 97 in Minny, Kiss in Boise, 94.9 in San Diego or Y-94 in Fargo. They're just...cool. If they had to try, then they wouldn't be. I like this. Nice. Clean. And unlike 99% of what you would normally see on station sites. www.kzia.com
#hiddengas
Kix in Springfield launched Bobby Bones and to create some buzz on the streets they're doing a hunt each day that pays off with $100 in gas http://www.mykix1009.com/contests/hiddengas/305062
The Surrogate
An update on the morning show fill-in search at KLUC, from the lovely and talented and MSU Alum Cat Thomas: Since Lauren is out, we've been doing the Surrogate auditions. On Monday we started the TOP 10. Each get one day with the show. After that we narrow down the TOP 3 for a call back and the person who is chosen as "The Surrogate" gets $2,500 cash payday and gets to fill in for Lauren until August. Spence did a KILLER recap video and page from this morning: http://kluc.cbslocal.com/2014/07/07/the-surrogate-amanda-el-takrori
