That Was Difficult
Kudos and Canuckolades to Up! In Fredericton for snagging "the last comment" thing from TSM/Missoula and for four tickets to a music festival got close to 20,000 comments in four hours. Most stations don't get 20,000 comments in two years so this is "good" or at least "very above average".
"Hunger Games"
Joey Tack at Journal in Knoxville had a great moniker: "Highschool Hunger Games". The next movie is out in November so what if you did it as a School Spirit contest offer a free screening to the entire student body of the school that raises the most canned food?
The Community Cruiser
I want to say that it was CBS/Pittsburgh that debuted the Community Cruiser. For lack of a better term, it was a dealer-supplied truck that was used as an "in" to all of the community events in that market.
What does just about every charity thing need? Wheels. To haul. To collect. To pick up straggling walkers.
The idea is simple. Dealer and the station team up to help people who help the community. Go to the site, check on availability, and fill out a form explaining what you have going on. The station would send out the driver (street teamer) for several hours to lend a hand and some wheels.
Basic, simple, community marketing.
Play Ball
The Parks & Rec version of the cruiser is a station softball team. Sponsored by a beer or soft drink, you make yourself available to play at all of the locals fairs and festivals. You make money off it and you get to market yourself in parts of the rated area that usually get ignored. Plus, in a PPM World(tm) it allows you to blast the station for an hour or two to the ears and hopefully the meters of a whole fairground of people.
