Customized On-Site Presentations
I will undoubtedly tick some people off but I think the three best on-site stations for concerts and festivals are Power in Miami, Kiss/Mix in Phoenix and Z-95.3 in Vancouver because all three have incredibly aesthetic and asthmatic people in Gino, Carina and Taryn. If you went to five concerts or festivals in each market, you would not see the same set up twice.
For Calle Ocho, Gino built misting fans and they were sold/sponsored to/by a water park. He concocted pie bras for the Katy Perry photo booth. http://power96.com/photos/nggallery/2013/katy-perry-concert-photo-booth-07-03-2014
In Vancouver, I stumbled on street teamers out back who were building and painting their set for the BSB show. This past weekend at Squamish, they had a Vanity Stand and Recharge Station where you could freshen up your look while your mobile was getting juice.
In Phoenix Carina has done everything from a red carpet photo walk for JT (possibly a litte nicer than a listener with a cheap cut out of the artist), for Gaga she had trannys, and for Bruno, a dance club built on the plaza.
"The Oldywed Game"
The best jewelry giveaway is always "Desperate Ice Wives". But if the client is "conservative" or "more traditional" then this is a great, warm and fuzzy, promotion. I did the Dating Game at a mall with listeners asking and answering questions to/from modeling school students on the other side of a partition. The set up was beautifully built and totally mirrored the old show. It was very very successful and technically NOT prostitution since they were only doing it for credit.
Anyone who has been married for any length of time will attest to the fact that you still are always learning about your partner. You solicit for and pick five couples though TBD contesting, but probably a mix of web and morning show.
It would be perfect for a mall or appropriate venue a stage is set up and the five couples participate in a competition that has the various genders exiting to a controlled space while their spouses are asked questions about them, like, "Nickname In Grade School", "Birthmarks", "Shoe size" and "College roommate's name". Two rounds with each gender and the highest point getters get the jewelry. There should be "Fabulous parting gifts" for the other couples.
The potential clients could be malls, jewelers, vacation packages, restaurants.
Ipad Tag
Ticket Tag has turned out to be a homerun at every station that has done it. AMP in LA decided to do it with iPads. And it was large. Q in Memphis did and Chris Taylor says it might be the most nuts he'd ever seen the phone lines. They took a caller at 7:20 and they needed to know the last winner from the previous day. They won and then announced the next contest time, usually in the late afternoon. That caller had to know the name of the 7:20 winner. And so on and so on.
