Pimp Your Cooler
I've lobbed Cruisin' Coolers out a few times. The mobile cooler that you can drive around. KZIA in Cedar Rapids bought one, it's wrapped and debuted at the Iowa State home opener tailgate festivities under the moniker "The Electric Party Cow."
The Format Of Tomorrow...
...in 29 days. There's a Christmas format station (sometimes two) in every market. A few of the stations have hit major homerun stunts with going All Thanksgiving for a day...before realizing their error and switching back. Why not "All Halloween" for a day? "Thriller" over and over. Why? Why not? Or, at 6 pm, go all "mood music". Be the background sfx for thousands and thousands of homes where people will be handing out candy. Go to the Halloween aisle at Target. They have CD's of this stuff. Why not give it to the audience for free? 6 to 9? That's some killer TSL.
Driving Hits At Clients' Websites
Every November the weekly paper where I live puts out an insert that has twelve clippable entry blanks, each with the name of a local business on it. You take five minutes, cut them out, write your name and phone number on each and as you go about your life and find yourself in the bank, the gas station, the market, the café, the liquor store, the pizza place, the feed store, the hair place, the chiropractor, the outdoor rec equipment place, the propane dealer, and the bar, you stick the appropriate coupon in the entry box.
They combine all the entries and five people win big ass turkeys. I do it. Why not? In the course of a week or two I will find myself in at least half those places, so, again, why not? A free turkey? I'll take that.
Could this be done on your station website? Uh...yeah. Copy and paste an entry blank, and then click on client's logos, go to their website, and paste it and hit enter. Voile'. Traffic from your site to their site. Not that you ever get any pressure for this listeners interaction.
A Great Night Show Bit
That could also be done in the AM.
I hit some of the night shows a couple of years ago with a bit that I put together for Wild in OKC a couple years ago. There they did it on the morning show.
Basically you talk about how the school district is selling naming rights to several highschools to make up for a budget shortfall. JP at Power in Miami jumped on it the next night:

I opened up the break saying i read a local article online saying that south Florida schools were struggling because of the recession.
So they have decided to team up and or sell the school to major corporations..
And one of the schools that would be effected by this immediately would be Hialeah High.
As of Sept 15th Hialeah High would now be called K-MART High...
I staged a phone call with a fake student (Which i did not need because phone blew up right away)
I continued playing calls of outraged students,parents you name it ....
I also added four more schools that would be effected by the name change.
Finally i let the cat out of the bag in my last break of the 8 hour with a concerned
caller asking about his school....
Great reactions from phones and text the bit was a success all the way !!!!!
