Lost In Textation
One of the talent got a text from someone who clearly thought they were their dealer and wanted him to drop off "60". I had the same thing occur on a Saturday morning last winter with some girl who thought I was ""Roman" and wanted to pick up a "20" before she and "Lauren" had to go to work.
I know this will surprise you but I was bored and had her going all over the north suburbs for "meets" and even got her to send a photo to prove she wasn't the cops.
It was fun. And it's also a terrific topic: weird texts that were meant for someone else.
I Knew It Sounded Familiar
Power 96 in Miami has put all of their Beat The Bomb contesting on Mondays in the PPM strategy of own the day, own the week, own the month. And the initial numbers have proven them to have been very right about that.
I was discussing Day Of 1000 Winners with KZIA in Cedar Rapids where they own the sticker position stupidly. They're everywhere. It's an old sticker promotion; you go around and for one day spot 1000 cars and give them prizes.
Huh. What if you did a year-end clearance? We're moving out all the 2014's to make room for the 2015's. Everything must go. We've lost our minds. No credit, no problem. No trade-ins required. If it's not nailed down, we'll take it and give it away on the air.
I thought I was a genius. I thought, "Maybe this. Maybe this will be my next 'Dirty On The :30's' or 'Free Ticket Weekend' benchmark creation...."
Nope. Rick Thomas told me they did it as Thousand Winner Wednesdays at Wild in SFO.
Still, it's a great idea. Every time you talk, you have more LOCAL winners to announce. It sounds large. Large is good.
