Works...Every...Time
Have you ever noticed that when a Principal shaves his head because his students hit their reading goal, the press will show up? It's like diaper crawls; find a reason to shave your head and TV will show up. Which leads me to something Sarah Pepper and Ivan from Hot 95.7 in Houston did where she hit her goal of raising $50,000 for leukemia and shaved her head.
Now, they had some trouble, surprisingly, with press, so Sarah strong armed them: We couldn't get any news people to get back to me so I said on the air, local news won't call us back to cover this amazing event. So I am leaving it in your hands. Call them today and ask them why whey won't cover this. ABC said they were flooded with calls asking them why they didn't care about kids or cancer. There photographer was here at 5:45 am! The event started at 7:30 :)
Theme Parks
I took my niece to the Minnesota State Fair last year. She spent the majority of the time texting her friends. I was THIS close to grabbing it and tossing it off the Sky Ride. From Bubba at Star in Pittsburgh. Steal this: "Put Your Phone Away And Play Day"! They get $X amount off a ride all day package if they download the pledge from StarPittsburgh.com. They will be scanned (checked) for cell phones when they enter the pavillion. At the end of the day since they gave up their phones for a day....all their names go in a hat and the winner gets a free Cricket smart phone with free service for a year.
The Oddest Request You'll Ever Make Of A Label
I remember doing Bras Across The Bridge circa 1991. I don't want to say we were the first, but we thought it was original.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this is now the defacto promotion for this month. I wanna say that Q in Cincy and Cities 97 in Minny (I live in Scandy) have done the best in recent years.
One of the stations is already working on theirs. You always want to hit up local celebrities like TV anchors. The next level would be to get a bunch from artists. Waiting until mid-September to request them isn't going to make it happen. Start...now. In fact, quite a few of you have Summer concerts. Cool. Make sure to work the acts.
Then...after the bridge or lake or highway stretching, you frame and auction them off for charity.
It's Breast Cancer. The greatest charity ever. They won't say no. You just need to give them some advance notice.
