Hits From The G8ghties
Boom in Toronto celebrated Pride in that market by doing eight hours of 80's anthems for the parade and festivities.
Paint This
In the past week I've seen one print story and a bunch of social media pieces on the new trend of establishments doing painting parties. I read. I filed. I forgot. And this morning got an email from a station where they're going to sell some of these events hosted by the morning show. http://the-paint-pub.com
Best. Backstage. Giveaway. Ever.
Going backstage to meet a celebrity is a money-can't-buy prize. My friend Chris annually brings up the time I dragged him along for a Heart meet and greet in 1986. Do the math on that; that's huge. That was a big deal for him.
Matt Tell with CC in Minny says I'm being too sarcastic so I won't say "Just stick the passes in the VIP Club and have people click and register."
The Wolf in Seattle was the first station I coerced to do The Running Of The Balls. They did at a Kenny Chesney show. A few dozen numbered beachballs and interns with leafblowers blasting them across the parking lot. First to cross the line one backstage passes for its designated listener.
KLUC in Las Vegas did a version of that with Turkey Races last Thanksgiving and had Chet, Lauren and Spence blowing paper turkeys through the halls of the building.
And in '12? The indoor version at KOB-FM in Albuquerque where they took 93 callers, assigned them each a superball, took them all to the stairwell and through them down. The first to get caught at the bottom, won meet and greets for Rihanna. Also done as Powerball For Britney at KDWB.
We're in show business. If you tasked Monty Hall to give away a great prize, he'd do something like this.
