#InadvertentWednesday
It might be something you take out on a test drive with the at-work audience. Post photos of coworkers who inadvertently dressed up like TV or movie characters.
Much like Jayme at KZIA.
The Stuff That Sirius Can't Do
A couple of years ago there was a week to ten day period where a highschool had four suicides. I suggested to a CHR that since their audience was going through a particularly awful period of time, that they formulate a plan to help or respond. I was told that they didn't want to lose focus on a direct mail campaign that was about to "drop".
There was an absolutely horrific road rage incident in Albuquerque last month that ended with a four year-old girl getting shot. It's a really family-oriented market so this obviously tore everyone up.
KOB-FM:
- They let the listeners take over the station wall-to-wall
- Topics went from "hug your kids" to taking and forwarding tips on the shooter
- They raised $40,000 in hours for the child's funeral
- And the killer was caught
- This morning they're talking with mental health professionals
This is the stuff that's our strength. Not regurgitated pop gossip or VIP Club contests. "No ratings machination will ever beat a station that has an emotional connection to their listeners" - Jerry Clifton.
Human Space Invaders
So, you have a crowd of people you need to entertain? This is from Jeff Helion who is now with CC in Poughkeepsie but was formerly the Marketing Guy for a minor league ball team. This…is cool. And stupid. And stupid is often cool.
