Facebook Juice
I saw "What was the first celebrity/singer/actor poster you ever put on your bedroom wall?" go on and on and on for about three days on a Hollywood film buff page the other day.
From Troy McCallum at Boom 97.3 in Toronto:
Yesterday I doctored a picture of a cassette insert and wrote some "driving tunes" that boom plays, took a picture of it and plopped it on Facebook with the title "What's Missing?". It received over 100 comments from our Facebook fans.
The meme is more than just a post. It extends our music position at boom, provides some quick research into our demos and gives us some great ideas for some specialty programming. We could do a "Road Trip Weekend" in the future and tap some of these songs for it.
Puppyrazzi
With most of you under ridiculous amounts of scrutiny for traffic and likes, one hot button has always been Kids. Which is why Baby Idol makes the numbers go all kablooey. Submit and vote for cutest dogs is a no brainer.
The Ten Word Movie Review
One of the midday talents was looking for something her listeners could get engaged with on-line during her shift.
People love movies. Doubt me? Post, "What movie was so bad that you had to get up and walk out?" on Facebook. Anything movie or film related will "stick".
So a different "10 Word Movie Reviews" would be fun. Stick a different current film up on Facebook or the site and let listeners critique it in 10 words or less. A pair of movie tickets would be a nice prize but whatever you have in the prize closet or from a client would work.
The Brew Review
And yet another station had a request from a beer for something on-line. What about the (stations)(beer's) Brew Review? A web poll that focus's on listeners rating all the local bars, pubs, taverns, lounges on a variety of criteria. "Best Happy Hour". "Best Pool Tables". "Best Retro Video Games". "Hottest Waitresses". "Cheapest Draft Beer". "Best Kitsch Décor". Have about 30 categories. Have people vote and go out and give each winner a trophy to be prominently displayed.
