Posts & Posters
I mentioned a Facebook post about "What was the first poster you ever hung on your wall?" that's been jacking up my email for 8 days now. It just will NOT stop. Laura Daniels at Mix in Buffalo tied it into their NKOTB giveaway. http://mix96buffalo.com/what-was-the-first-celebrity-poster-you-hung-in-your-room-audio/
Girl Scout Cookies
They are as much a part of our cultural experience as Super Bowl parties, People Of Walmart, video preview booths and high school football. Last year John and Tammy at KSON in San Diego were on it. http://www.kson.com/jt-show-news/2015/01/26/girl-scout-cookie-season-is-here
One of the morning guys asked me to share links to "sitcom clichés". Plot lines or story arches that just about every sitcom used at some point. And a cookie battle was almost ALWAYS in there. I think Ross bought a truckload to impress a woman on "Friends".
One of the stations was in a market where their on-sale was delayed by two weeks so they drove about 200 miles, bought up a TON, brought them back and gave them away. Phones melted which again proves that we can totally overthink prizing.
Vid Blogs
Quite a few of you do them. It's sometimes reminds me of when we started webcamming the studios; it proved to our audience that we actually have a pretty boring job. The stations that did it right, storyboarded it so there was stuff you might miss if you didn't watch closely. With KSFM in Sacramento there was a guy in Production you could see in the background and every day he'd fall down and hurt himself and in one case, he set himself on fire. Kind of like this.
Now, granted, "How I Met Your Mother" was an abject failure so I wouldn't look to it for guidance or ideas. https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/2n65ns/the_couple_in_the_background_of_himymhas_been/
