Facebook Contesting
This is a great find by Bel Boschi with CPR/BC,CA TFN. http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/17-tips-for-successful-facebook-contests/?awt_l=4IXdq6&awt_m=3h.BaoigQwr.ILT
"We'd Like You To Drive Traffic To The Retailers, But Please Keep In Mind That We Don't Pay Talent Fees, We Won't Be Able To Supply Product, Prizes Or Additional Cash To Support Your Promotion"
This came up with a soft drink over the weekend. Factoring in that we can't get more than 6% of people to call in and try to win $1000, what percentage of the audience will drive over to Kwik Trip because you asked them? Right.
First. You need overwhelming noise and signage to get drivers to make the impulse decision to stop.
What else? At least during the summer? This is going to sound stupid and like a thinly veiled excuse to hang out with girls in tanktops, but cheerleader car washes. There are a few every weekend. Have them do it at your place and you'll pound it for them. Now you have an event.
Create a Summer Selfie campaign and have a set up at every event you do this summer. "If you haven't got your photo with the giant crab, we'll be at Pump 'N Munch from 10 to 2 with prizes and fun(tm) so come and get your selfie and be sure to post it often for your chance to win a family trip to Disney".
Barcodes or other codes. Print or save to your phone and stop by to scan to see if you won. https://www.barcodesinc.com/generator/index.php
Beygo
Hands down, the BEST ideas that I've ever heard have come from interns. Why? Because they haven't been in Radio long enough to get screwed up. They see great and usually obvious stuff that we've been programmed to miss or dismiss.
So, a very cool station has one (1) pair of Beyonce tickets. They were sitting around and discussing ways to award this one (1) pair and the idea of Bingo came up. It spun and evolved into...Beygo.
At multiple times a day they will give out B's, E's, Y's, G's and rarely, an O.
The correct caller wins a prize and a letter. The names and letters are kept on an XL spread sheet. The first person to have gotten through five times and completed the word, gets the tickets.
"But do people still use phones for calling stations anymore?" Power in Miami did a Caller Number 963 contest before CBS took over and it was mayhem. Plus, purely from a morale position, the airstaff LOVES to see the phones melt. It's way way way more exciting for them than taking a text. Zzzzzzzzzz.
