Blessed Unions
One of the things that makes Chet Buchanan's Toy Drive in Las Vegas so impressive is the set, and that's largely due to his relationship with one of the carpenters unions that works with all of the hotel shows.
The Star Light Parade in Portland is marginally large. 300,000 people and live TV coverage so you'd look kind of dumb if you had a van rolling through it. Last year Z-100's relationship with a carpenters union resulted in a float bedecked in mermaids.

The Girl Ain't Quite Right
Laura Daniels at Mix in Buffalo has started Silent Lip Sync on their social media. She does this http://mix96buffalo.com/lauras-silent-lip-sync-may-29-2015/ and has people try to ID the song. She posts the answer and the audio version the next day, with a new silent video
Jenga!!!!!!
We're always looking for something big and stupid that will draw a crowd...and Promo Joe with Max Media in Virginia Beach may have just figured it out.
Impromptu Dance Parties
One of the things we try to pound into the interns heads at Street School is "activity". "Movement" gets attention. If you're at a thing and the crowd is just mulling around, initiate activity.
I was at the Cities 97 Basilica Block Party two summers ago when a bunch of Kia Becht's promo kids just started dancing. And, it got other people dancing. And then there was a party.
Beyonce played in Minneapolis last and it poured, so instead of breaking down and packing up, a station's street team...started dancing.
We're in a music medium. Dancing should be encouraged.
