Donut Day 2017
And the winner is Brad Waldo with Alpha/Dayton:
When Krispy Kreme returned to the Sacramento market around 2002, my morning show on Y92.5, Paul & Phil, got the local manager to agree to let them bring ten things over to the store and run them through the glazing machine. Their theory was that Krispy Kreme was wonderful because of the sugar glaze, and it would make anything wonderful to eat. They took calls on the air for suggestions, put together a list, sent Martin the producer to the store to get everything, and sent him to Krispy Kreme down the street. I remember graham crackers were phenomenal. Broccoli was only so so.
Song Of The Week
Anytime you have someone on staff who was deep deep into the running on American Idol, like Alexis Grace at Q-107.5 in Memphis, you have been handed a real weapon.
And then there's Spence at KLUC in Las Vegas.

Kool-Aid Tank
A few of the stations have found girl scouts to throw their promotional might behind and help move some cookies. Joey Tack at Scripps in Knoxville suggested doing that with some kids' Kool Aid stands. That's so stupid that it's brilliant.
Complete The_____
WOW Country in Boise is the latest station to show that Ugly Kids still has some legs. This was sent to the outdoor company:
Dear Mr. XXXX for several days now I have watched a very disturbing advertisement (if you can call it that) on the billboard just above Texas Roadhouse Restaurant in Nampa.
There is a picture of a little girl at one end and a little boy at the other end and in between the two children are the words "UGLY KIDS" nothing more than this, nothing follows this shot with any kind of explanation as to why these children are being titled ugly,
My blood boils each time I see this and cannot believe that your company allows this to be run on your billboard.
I am writing you in hopes that you will discontinue showing this atrocity.
Regards,
Xxxx xxxx
I've always liked Complete The Sentence Contests. Mix in KC shook up the market by running solemn promos for a week that "Mix is dead". Which was then paid off with "...serious about giving you a million dollars."
Power in Miami did "This Friday at 5 pm, Power 96, WPOW/Miami, will be going away." As a station that had been #1 for 30 years, this kind of got people's attention. The completion was "going away to the Bahamas and we're taking 100 listeners with us."
One of the stations had three TV crews at the offices by 5:30 on Friday when they announced that they were "Turning off the power..." The GSM was asked by several people at a funeral on Sunday about it. The pay off was "Turning off the power companies control over your pockets books." And in January, they paid heating bills. It was HUGE. Stupid huge. And it could be done with AC bills during the summer.
"Morning show has been fired..." would be "fired up about giving you/taking you" whatever.
You can only tease the demise of your station once but Good GAWD it's large.
