Water Drops
Hot 104.5 in Knoxville did their first Water Drop of the season, hitting parks, ball fields and wherever people were sweltering with cold bottled water. And this of course was sold and sponsored. Double "yeah".
Social Snooping
So it seems that this is the season we have a lot of interns sitting around looking for busy work. Good.
- Have them go to your competition's social media and find people who request songs that you play, or ask when is the next time they're going to play a song that you play. And send these competition listeners the appt. times for the next several hours when they can get their almost instant gratification. And BTW: look around. Even at your own Twitter and Facebook - we totally ignore these people. STOOPID.
- There was a guy who posted on the competition page in SFO and asked "When is the next time you're going to give away Bruno Mars tickets?" No reply. An hour later he repeated the question. No reply. Then he asked "Is anyone there?" No reply. Then he posted "Why even have a Facebook page?" I threw him at Carlos at NOW who messaged him and invited him to come by and pick up his free Bruno tickets.
Moment In Time
Most things that are considered "genius" are really just amazing instances of common sense.
Bubba from Star in Pittsburgh got the airstaff to hit that the next morning at 9 am, he wanted listeners to tweet whatever they were doing and hashtag is #bubbashowmomentintime. It trended into the stratosphere.
Office Hottie
This started at The Beat in Vancouver as a casual observation that "You know, every office has a hot employee." Bing. Bang. Boom. It was up the next day. It's been done at KLUC, Hot in Ottawa, Hot in Houston, Radiowave in Windhoek and is basically an on-line beauty pageant. The winning Hottie scores(tm) a prize that can be used by the entire workplace, like a day out at a ball game with a catered lunch.
Punches WILL Be Thrown
What couple, in the weeks leading up to their marriage haven't said "Screw it. We're going to Vegas. Why? Because of getting caught in the middle between the parents and the haggling and bickering over reception details. Do this as a topic, find a couple off-air, fly them to Vegas, video tape the wedding, fly them back, invite the families in for a staged discussion about the reception, and then go to the video. Punches WILL fly.
