Next Radio
I'm lobbing this out should you have frequent flier points and time to head over to the UK for a day in September. This is hands down going to be the best line up of actually bright people you're going to have a chance to see, for a long time. http://nextrad.io/
Pout It Out
This is a very cool "thing" that the always cool Radiowave in Windhoek is involved with. Essentally a makeup artist awards makeovers to people who can't afford them and are self-conscious because of any number of reasons. (The Pout part is due to the name of the makeup she uses) http://www.radiowave.com.na/competitions/pout-it-out
Going into September and with so many kids with horrible self-worth because of acne and other "things that can be worked with", what if you did a bunch of these for kids. Parents or teachers alert the station and the kid gets an Oprah-like surprise. Maybe have other clients come on board for clothes and shoes. It can be done anonymously or if the kid is cool with it, spotlight their transformation.
THIS is an amazing warm and fuzzy
The Pay Off
My Freshman year in college I went to school in LA and my equally broke dorm mates and I would go to see game shows get taped. Why? It was free and they gave us free stuff and occasionally shares of the winning.
We to "The Price Is Right", stood in line and before going in, they walked the line and gave everyone a quick interview. We were polite and serious and got a QUICK blow off meeting. Huh. Who did they call? The people who were wired, could barely contain themselves and were bouncing in-place as they stood in line.
Why? Because boring winners suck. But you already know that.
Thankfully, more and more stations are going for pay offs. Because in 2015, we can make great, exciting winner videos. Recaps that make people regret not playing your stupid contest. Like...
....a young woman in Des Moines being told that thanks to Kiss-FM, she's going to meet 1D.
Any time you can move people to tears, you win. Period. The pay off of Hot 89.9's historic Win A Baby contest
Five houses simultaneously for a !D trip winner in Ft. Wayne.
And of course I would be remiss and a bit of a dbag not to show 106.5 The Arch in St. Louis surprising a $30,000 winner at her work. Do you want to bet that her co-workers are going to tune in and play the next contest?
This is the stuff you don't get with VIP Clubs, Click-And-Register or from Sirius.
