Vehicle Wraps
Stations have certainly gotten creative with color schemes, but, again, 99% look pretty much the same.
Except this one from Erie where photos of listeners created a landscape of the market.
Me? I would have used three photos of artists and "Playing Erie's Best Variety Of Music!". But that's just me.
Show & Tell For Adele
Ray & Karen at 94.9 in Cincinnati do a very cool feature on their show that involves listeners sharing their swag. http://www.949cincinnati.com/send-us-your-tchotchke-of-the-day/
Proving once again that all great promotions can be traced back to Tom Wasmoen's birthday party in 4th grade, one of the stations is going to do Show & Tell For Adele. Send in a photo of something really cool or odd or unique that you have or can do, and if you're picked to be on the air to talk about how you had an autograph in the back of your car from Night Ranger, you win. (I had an intern use my car to pick them up, and somehow they all ended up in the back of my car where they scribbled notes on the wall. But at least we can still rock in America.)
Drink 4 Pink
With everyone doing various versions of Pokemon pub crawls, it's cool to note that Max Media in Denver is bringing back their breast cancer bar crawl this October. If people are going to drink, we may as well raise some money from it. Word.
Selling Your Toy Drive
Orlando with WiLD in Tampa does one of the bigger toy drives in Radio when he goes up and lives on a tower for an excrutiating length of time, and yes, they're working on it and getting expenses mapped out, now. Because you can actually generate revenue from these things.
Like what CBS does in KLUC in Las Vegas with the Chet Buchanan campaign every December which IS, hands down, the biggest in Radio anywhere.
Every year they add some elements. Last year it was clients donating trees that they'd decorated and people could buy them for a couple of hundred dollars.
They've also:
- Sold a sponsorship of the bike board.
- As well as the money donation board.
- Daily food sponsors of breakfast and dinner.
- A heating lounge for cold mornings.
- Chet's tent and other living accessories.
- Sponsoring staff gear.
- Streaming.
- Photobooth with all of the pics downloadable and shareable through an app.
- A photowall for taking pics with some of the MANY celebs who come by.
- The "first toys on truck" moment was sponsored.
