Bra'way
From the hair-less mind of Harv Blain: if you don't have a bridge or they won't let you string bras across it, then find a street. Like...Broadway. Stations in both Indianapolis and Fargo have strung them across busy avenues and got buzz similar to if they'd done a bridge.
November Food Drives
The Art of Promotions is to stand out, and that's hard to do if you are one of five stations in the market place that are doing a similar kind of food drive.
KSFM did Operation Baby Love which was basically a "drive" to collect stuff for low-income single moms. They attached the element of the Winnebago World Tour to make sure it was a message that cut through: Davey & Chris lived in an RV that was on the move, stopping at (clients usually) locations for four or five hours and then moving on.
This is a great list of things that the food shelf doesn't usually get and it could be a great starting point for whatever campaign you decide on. http://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2013/12/10-things-food-banks-need-but-wont-ask-for-2855068.html
Booking Photo Beauty Pageant
Power 96 did a contest where you had to match photos of his listeners to crimes that they'd been locked up for. I think the threshold was that you needed to spend at least one night in the joint. It was actually pretty funny. I failed miserably.
A friend/coworker regularly goes through the overnight booking photos on the local paper's website, picks out hot women and then sends them out to his database to pick the hottest felon of the previous 24 hours. They're in the public domain so it passed his Legal Dept. litmus test.
There's a weekly feature potential here.
Follow Sprees
This is a new celebrity trend that so far, no station has tried. You announce a date or time frame and every new person who follows them during that time, will be followed by the celeb. Sometimes it's everyone, sometimes the actor/artist will randomly pick 100 to follow in-kind.
Great idea, and it's not like you're not all getting judged and rated on those numbers.
The how-and-why of my following Dove Cameron is kind of long and convoluted and I choose not to answer so shut up.
