Breast Cancer

One of the stations is going to broaden it out and starting next week will be spotlighting a listener or listener's friend/family member who has had cancer. A different person every day and they start with the story of a five-year old victim who sadly lost their battle.

Launch Videos

Hot in Virginia Beach created one in-house for their station-site. It kind of reminds me of the Gnarley Charley/Jody vids from Cumulus in Fresno: it's local. It could not possibly be anywhere else. In 2016, sometimes that's a rarity.

The Pride Of Thunder Bay

Steve Jones, who is not just an author of great books like "Brand Like A Rock Star", but is also VP of Programming for Newcap, allowed himself some humiliation in front of his team by sharing this:

It was Shrove Tuesday 1997, the day for pancakes, and I was hosting a morning show in Moncton at a country station.

We thought it would be funny if we did a pancake toss. I volunteered to take a bath (literally) in maple syrup. Listeners could then line up and throw pancakes at me. Those who managed to get their pancakes to stick won valuable prizes. Probably movie tickets.

I share this with you because
a) I have little to no dignity
b) it got people talking.
c) to show that in the 90s, listeners wore pleated dockers
d) we had the worst logo in radio
e) all of the above
