Stealing Their Thunder At Concerts
If you are going to be out in front of thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of people, usually sandwiched between competitors, you want to get noticed.
Two years ago one of the stations had a drum corps at a Country show and they'd mastered one of the artists songs. Which they played over and over, and could be heard about three blocks away. And because we knew that the competitor's OM was an insecure, pompous dbag, they played in front of his booth for a little bit. It was the first time I'd ever see iphone footage of a man's head metaphorically explode.
For the 21 Pilots show in Memphis on Saturday night, Chris Taylor got a flag drill team spinning at the Q-107.5 set-up. https://www.facebook.com/Q1075/videos/pcb.1241548249214706/1241493349220196/?type=3&theater
Smarter Then Our Moms
One of my clients has some rather Jerry Springer-ish bits planned for Mothers Day. Good. Jerry's done all our research for us. Why does he do "My Mom Dresses Too Damn Sexy" over and over? Because it works. If pimping out moms isn't your thing, then how about getting the morning show's moms in the studio and throw questions at callers and the moms. If you're smarter then OUR mom, then you win something for YOUR mom.
The Joker
This was done by a station in Aukland, New Zealand. Very simple. They got the Joker from a deck of cards, marked it, and then dropped it out of a plane over the city. Find it and bring it in to the morning show the next day and win $1000. If it wasn't found, another one with a new marking was dropped, and it was worth $2000. Mayhem ensued(c)
